Assessments created in the Tests/Quizzes feature by curriculum offices can be made available to teachers in two ways:

  Description  Appropriate Types of Assessments
Launched Assessments  Allows for collection of classroom, school-wide, and system-wide data for the purpose of adjusting support to students and teachers, revising curriculum, enhancing curriculum and/or providing professional development.  Curriculum administrators must manage the release and access of the assessment.  Teachers cannot view these assessments in the course map.

Launching Summative Assessments to Schools

return to top

In order to provide access to summative assessments and collect system-wide data, they must be launched by the curriculum office to schools.  This function should only be conducted by Curriculum Administrators in Academics.

1. Select "Tests & Quizzes" from the left hand side bar and view "Your Test Library."

2. Hover over the gear icon to the right of the assessment you would like to make available to schools.  Select "Launch Assessment."

3.  In the upper right hand corner, ensure the correct grading period is selected from the drop down menu. For the 2015-2016 school year, select 2015-2016>Grading Period 1, regardless of the current marking period.

4. For scheduling method, choose from the following options:

  • Let teachers schedule for their classes

This scheduling method is appropriate when the grade level/subject area tags will align the assessment with the correct courses in the schools.

OR

  • Let administrator schedule for their school

This scheduling method is appropriate when courses are not well-defined by their grade level/subject area tags (i.e. CTE courses are labeled as "Other" and therefore will not match appropriately.

5. Select the level of school or the  individual schools for which you would like to publish the assessment. You can also use the Select All option if that is intended.

6. For classes with access, choose from the following options:

  • All courses with the same grade level/subject area as assessment

This creates a match between any classes at the school where a subject/grade match occurs with the settings for the particular assessment.

  • Let schools delegate class access

This allows schools to pick specific classess for which the assessment will be assigned and is appropriate when courses are not well-defined by their grade level/subject area tags.

7.  For teacher access, choose from the following options:

  • View questions and score answers: this allows the teacher to view the questions and view student answers
  • View only: this allows the teacher to view only the questions but not the student score
  • Neither view nor score: this hides both the questions and the student scores from the teacher
8.  Review all fields to make sure they are correct.  Once an assessment has been launched you cannot make any changes or edits to the assessment. Then, select "Launch Test."
