Assessments created in the Tests/Quizzes feature by curriculum offices can be made available to teachers in two ways:

Appropriate Types of Assessments |
| Launched Assessments |
Allows for collection of classroom, school-wide, and system-wide data for the purpose of adjusting support to students and teachers, revising curriculum, enhancing curriculum and/or providing professional development. Curriculum administrators must manage the release and access of the assessment. Teachers cannot view these assessments in the course map.

Unit level pre-assessments, Summative Unit Assessments, End of Unit Performance Tasks, Other Major Unit Assessments

| Embedded Assessments |
Included directly in the course map for teachers to assign to students during instruction and provide feeedback. Results are used to adjust ongoing teaching and learning. |
Formative Assessments |
Embedding Formative Assessments in Course Maps

Once you have created a formative assessment in the Tests/Quizzes feature, you can add it as an item in any folder in a course map. Teachers may then assign the test directly from the course map at their own discretion.
